Abstract:
Taoism flourished during the Tang dynasty, and Taoists produced several works based on the concept of “zuowang” to spread Taoism. Three of these works share the same name, Zuowanglun, and one was authored by the famous Taoist Sima Chengzhen. Sima’s work gained popularity during the Song dynasty. Intellectuals have discussed various aspects of Sima’s Zuowanglun, including its significance to moral practice, politics, and literature. This study explored the effects of Sima’s Zuowanglun during the Song dynasty.
