Catalytical Reactions of Cyclohexanol and Cyclohexylmenthanol over Aluminas and Zirconia

Abstract:
The catalytic reactions of alumina has been extensively studied. It was found that the reaction mechanisms were governed by the acidity of the catalyst. However, the catalytic properties of zirconia, which also acts as support, is not as well understood as alumina.
In this study, cyclohexanol and cyclohexyl methanol were passed over an alumina or zirconia catlayst at atmospheric pressure and at different temperatures or different LHSV. The effects of temperature and LHSV on the corresponding catalytic reactions were compared.
